What Is Spiritism Let’s start by understanding why “Spiritism” instead of “Spiritualism”. In his first published book, The Spirits' Book, Kardec notes that: “New terms are necessary to clearly convey new ideas and to avoid the inevitable confusion that ensues from using the same term for expressing different ideas. The terms spiritual, spiritualist, and spiritualism … Continue reading What Spiritism is and what it is not
"Behold, I make all things new" (Holly Bible, Revelation 21:5) All civilizations, from the past to the present, have been erected on heteronomous grounds clearly expressed in their institutions, religions and laws. Values of heteronomous morality are confounded with values of culture itself, rooted in common sense. If heteronomy is an unfamiliar term to you, … Continue reading New Grounds for New Ethics
Is there a battle between forces of light and darkness? Am I or you part of this battle?
When I first designed the picture above, I noted that our intellectual life takes place in a network involving multiple intelligences (human beings in physical and non-physical forms) in vibrational resonance. I talked about the importance and necessity of engagement and collaboration in multiple levels of relationships, starting with ourselves and progressively evolving from there … Continue reading In search for Identity and Meaning
In a previous post, we have indicated the idea that every suffering is a condition of moral imperfection. Therefore, karma is not the result of our past deeds, but the reflection of our present state of consciousness. In fact, our deeds are also a reflection of our present state of consciousness, so to change our … Continue reading Karma under a new paradigm (part 2)
Karma is a key concept in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Taoism and means action, work or deed. It is commonly understood as the spiritual principle of cause and effect where intent and actions of an individual (cause) influence the future of that individual (effect). Thus, good intent and good deed contribute to good karma … Continue reading Karma under a new paradigm (part 1)
#1 Each of us experiences the world from a self-comparative standpoint. What makes me short or tall is the height of others. What makes me rich or poor is the wealth of others. Comparison turns us into the center of the world and the world then is experienced through a self-centered perspective. Everything above our … Continue reading Who do you think you are?
Reflections on the Basis of Morality Must religion and morals go together? Can one be taught without the other? Those questions proposed by Annie Besant in her 1915’s book “The Basis of Morality” are perhaps even more relevant today than at her time. Annie notes that “religions based on revelation find in revelation their basis … Continue reading #OneHumanity
Many are the signs that Earth as a multi-dimensional planetary system is indeed passing through a major breakthrough. Sustainability (3BL), extrasensory perceptions (ESP), the UFO Phenomena… Could all of this be interpreted as small tips of the same iceberg emerging in this XXI century? I’d like to propose some reflections for you who consider yourself a catalyst of positive change in the world, especially if you also consider yourself a spiritualist. I have met hundreds of people that fit the description above and observed many more in physical and online (such as Facebook) groups on various religious and spiritualistic … Continue reading After all, what does it mean to be a “Spiritualist”?
A practical exercise of spirituality is only one that puts ideas into action. Knowledge devoid of motion does not exist outside the physical brain. Spiritual wisdom is only achieved when knowledge (concepts and ideals) reach the heart and is then put into action through our daily activities among others. This is why there is no … Continue reading What is Your Love Language?
Spend a few minutes writing down at least five things you want to accomplish in this lifetime. What do you want your life to be? What do you want from life? What do you want? Read the next paragraph only after your list is complete. After compiling this short list of what you want, answer … Continue reading Inner light to a brighter future
Some believe a messiah will save us, others that science will ultimately help us achieve common happiness in a bright society. Some believe a particular economic system is needed, others that a specific party or politician will do the job. Many are the factors at play here, but the starting point of this article is … Continue reading How to deconstruct our need for a messiah, a savior, a leader?
You might be familiar with the equation E=mc^2, however perhaps you don’t know this is just a simplified version of Einstein’s relativity equation, modified by a proportionality constant known as the Einstein-Lorentz Transformation. This simplification, in general terms, eliminates certain system’s properties such as time distortion and changes of length, width, and mass over different … Continue reading Hyperspace and Hypertime from a Spiritual-Scientific Perspective
Who am I? Where do I come from? What am I doing here? Where will I go after? For centuries we have asked such questions and never fully answered them. Science and religion/spirituality are both trying to answer them and it is clear now that both are required so we continue to make progress on … Continue reading After all, what does it mean to be a “Scientist”?
Important preliminary point: Our intellectual life (mind and expression) takes place in a network that involves multiple intelligences (human being in physical and non-physical forms) in vibrational resonance. We are constantly surrounded and interacting with other intelligences that harmonize with us at some level. They are drawn to us due to common interests, desires, experiences, … Continue reading Psychic Self-Defense in Multiple Relationship Domains
First of all, let me note that in this text I am presenting my personal perspective on Spiritism. Let me also note that this text is addressed to people of all nationalities, although primarily focused on the American public with which I have more direct contact. With these two basic parameters clarified, let me then … Continue reading A Proposal for Spiritists Within and Outside Brazil
Your attitudes in everyday life exert direct influence in the type of companies you develop and the projects entrusted to you, supporting or compromising your spiritual work. The idea that you are special or superior places you and your work at significant risk.
Are you ever late for an important business meeting? Have you ever been hired for a job you're not prepared? There is no “skipping steps” in the process of spiritual realization.
Can we drive out darkness with darkness? Hate with hate? This post is for all the light workers out there! Every point can be largely expanded. Think about them and don't hesitate to share any questions or comments. It is by the fruit that we judge the tree. Much is asked from those to which much is given.
Stay in peace!
The animistic phase goes from the atom to the higher animal. In this period, the spiritual principle is developed naturally by the impulse of the pleasures and pains, then governed by the instincts and passions, elaborating itself through the evolution of species.
Then comes the human life, when the intellectual-moral evolution occurs. The soul, at this stage, begins simple and unlearned, that is, without morality and intelligence. In the first few lives, not much change is affected, Kardec explains, continuing the spirit under the infallible command of the instincts. After hundreds or thousands of lives, reason starts to bring forth the understanding. Only then does free will develop the capacity for rational choice, that is, with an understanding of the options. Only then the spirit becomes responsible for both the mistakes made and the progress made.
Finally, when the spirit awakens its virtues, and overcoming all imperfections contracted over the time, it begins to assume missions in the universe. It assists another spirit to overcome its difficulties, become the guardian spirit of someone else, help a family, a group, a nation, a planet. It can then participate in the creation and evolution of the species of a planet, then acquire responsibilities to an entire solar systems, then galaxies and so forth. The co-creative spirits assist God in the establishment of universal harmony, voluntarily and cooperatively.
What is the spiritual practice of the awakened minds? We see it as being that of collaboration, of plurality of ideas, of humble and honest search for knowledge and inner development. This practice, however, cannot suit the flaws of character of those locked in their own pride, wishing to impose their beliefs on all and make the world cater to their needs. This practice is inadequate to those who are still constrained by sects of knowledge, closed to new paradigms and our urgent need to recycling ideas and make change. This practice is not adequate to those who do not question their own certainties. It is not adequate to those still attached to syntax rather than meaning. It is also not adequate to those who seek meaning without labor and study. This practice is for those who consciously celebrate freedom and diversity, knowing how to coexist among individuals who express opposing ideas. If alone we are tremendously limited, united we more thoroughly are able to reach the truth.
